Treimorfa Presentation of DDJM design concept to the Mayor of Krakow, television and journalists
On 15th June , Verity Development and its local partner in the project, GD&K, organized a presentation of the latest design concept for "Treimorfa" inviting Krakow's Mayor and Deputy Mayor, the Chief Architect and around 60 journalists from around the country from newspapers, journals and magazines, television and radio stations . The presentation was given by the senior partner of the famous Krakow architectural firm DDJM, Marek Dunikowski. Mr Dunikowski set out his vision for the project in a series of computer generated images and a maquete of the 102 metre high tower in front of the large audience, including the Mayor of Krakow and several television cameras, filling the auditorium and spilling out into the entrance. Mr. Dunikowski compared Krakow to Lyon in France in terms of its character, urban arrangement and social, industrial and educational cross-sections, but with a major difference. Lyon has ten times as much office space as Krakow. Mr. Dunikowski emphasized that the most important and central part of the new design is the Piazza stretching between the main entrance to the tower and the Mogilskie roundabout. It will be a promenade, a leisure location for relaxing and for meetings. From the Piazza on the ground, to the top floor restaurant with unparalleled views to the historic landmarks of Krakow and further to the Tatra mountains, Mr. Dunikowski set out his new vision.
The majority of the space in Treimorfa will be offices, located in the 102 metre high tower. The design also stipulates a hotel and also a building dedicated to apartments. Additionally, there will be shops restaurants and cafes. The usable space in the tower will be approximately 22 000 m2 and the adjoining lower tower approximately 8000 m2. The total complex will have approximately 55 000 m2 of usable space excluding underground areas.
The presentation resulted in headline stories in all the major local and national newspapers the following morning, as well as being included in the news stories of national and local television channels that evening. The overwhelming consensus of opinion of the new design concept has been extremely favourable, both among journalists and the general public. Gazeta Wyborcza conducted an informal poll asking readers "Yes, I like it" or "No, it is another unsuccessful idea". A resounding 94% of people polled agreed that they like it, which represents a devastating vote of public confidence in Marek Dunikowski's vision for the project.
